Biography and previous work

Yogendra is currently a PhD student at Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. As part of his doctoral work, Yogendra focuses on the use of silk as a biomaterial for cartilage and osteochondral tissue engineering. His research interests also include stem cell bioengineering and 3D bioprinting. He has previously been awarded the Raman-Charpak fellowship to undertake collaborative work in France. As a recipient of the Newton-Bhabha fellowschip, he is currently a visiting research scholar in the Natural Materials Group.

Current Work

The purpose of this visit is to determine the physicochemical, thermomechanical and other properties of a range of different reprocessed silks from a variety of Indian species with an eye towards understanding how they can be improved and better used for medical applications.
